Points System Summary
Bonus points:
Bonus points are awarded for the heat and/or time trial. You are awarded one point, plus the number of karts you beat in your class. If there are 5 karts in your class, the winner gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 4 points, etc.

Feature points:
Feature points are awarded by how you place in the feature event, and are the same no matter how many karts compete in your class. They are:

1st - 200pts.
2nd - 175pts.
3rd - 155pts.
4th - 140pts.
5th - 130pts.
6th - 120pts.
7th - 110pts.
8th - 100pts.

After 8th place, each place gets 5 fewer points.

In case of a tie (which will commonly happen if the race event is shortened, as by rain, or rarely, if Timing and Scoring determines you crossed the finish line simultaneously) points are awarded to both drivers for the position they tied for. For example, if Bill comes in first, and Andy and George tie for second, and John comes in next, then Bill gets first place points (200), Andy and George each get second place points (175), and John gets fourth place points (140).

Arcane Scoring Minutia

Feature DNS. If you do not start the Feature, you might think you just get last place points. Not so! You get no position points, but you do get a flat 25 bonus points added to whatever bonus points you earned in the previous parts of the event (time trial, for example, or heat race). If at all possible, get on the grid for the feature and make sure you complete at least one lap. Then, check that Timing & Scoring made note that you finished the first lap.

Race Day (Starting Position et cetera)
Your starting position in the Feature Race is determined by your Draw, Time Trial, and Semi Race. So read on!

Draw
At registration you draw a random number. This is your draw number. It's used to break starting position ties in the Semi and Feature races. It does not determine how many points you are awarded, nor does it break ties in finishing positions.

Time Trial
Starting position in the Time Trial (TT) is determined by the order in which you signed in at Registration. You receive bonus points for your TT finish (see below). Bonus points determine your starting position for the Semi Race.

Time Trial Bonus Points Award
You get ONE bonus point for taking the green flag in the Time Trial. You get an ADDITIONAL bonus point for each person you beat in the Time Trial.

No bonus points are awarded for drivers who registered but did not start the Time Trial. In other words, you only get bonus points for people you beat on the track.

If you do not time trial, you get zero bonus points for the Time Trial (you can still earn bonus points in the Semi, see below).

Semi Race
Starting position in the Semi Race is determined by your gridding priority (see diagram at right).

If you don't fall into the second, third, or fourth priority, you are a "normal" driver and your starting position is determined by your bonus points from the Time Trial. This is an INVERTED start, so the person with the most bonus points starts at the back of the first priority (green) drivers.

In the event of a tie for grid position, your draw number breaks the tie (higher draw number gets a better starting position. Note that in the Feature, it's the lower draw number that gets the better starting position).

If you did not participate in the Time Trial, or you were disqualified (because you were underweight, for example), you start in the Priority 2 position. If there are multiple drivers in Priority 2, their starting position is determined by their draw number.

Rookies start in the Priority 3 position.

Drivers may request to start at the back, for any reason, in the Priority 4 position. If multiple drivers request to start at the back, their draw number determines their order within this priority.

Semi Race Bonus Points Award
You get ONE bonus point for taking the green flag in the Semi. You get an ADDITIONAL bonus point for each person you beat in the Semi. No bonus points are awarded for drivers who registered but did not start the Semi. In other words, you only get bonus points for people you beat on the track.

If you do not start the Semi, you get zero bonus points for the Semi (you keep any Time Trial bonus points you previously earned).

Feature Race
Starting position in the Feature Race is determined by your gridding priority (see diagram above right).

If you don't fall into the second, third, or fourth priority, you are a "normal" driver and your starting position is determined by combining your bonus points from the Time Trial and Semi Race.

Ties for grid position are broken by the draw number (lower draw number gets a better starting position).

If you did not participate in the Semi, or you were disqualified (because you were underweight, for example), you start in the Priority 2 position, without regard to any bonus points you earned in the Time Trial.

Rookies
You are a Rookie for your first three weeks of racing. You must have a large X on the back of your helmet. You must start at the back except in time trials. Timing and Scoring doesn't know that you are a rookie, so PLEASE tell them that when you register. If Timing and Scoring messes up and grids you farther forward, please ignore that and put yourself at the back of the grid.
