Spring Series Opener [posted 4-23-06]
It was cold, yes. Nasty little wind blowing, and occasional showers. Overcast. Yep. Not the nicest day you could imagine. But the track was dry, and we had a decent turnout for the season opener (20 karts). So get those karts buffed up! There are still four races left in the Spring Series.

Annual Track Meeting [posted 2-20-06]
The annual track meeting for Oswego karting will be help at 2 PM on Sunday March 12th during the Motorsports Expo at the NYS Fairgrounds. Find out about rules changes, reserve your number for the 2006 season, and meet the drivers and vendors (this is especially useful if you will be new to the track in 2006).

Rotax Max Challenge Series Returns to Oswego [posted 1-18-06]
The Rotax Max Challenge Series will hold the fourth race of their NE series at Oswego on Sunday, June 25th. This will also be a normal club race date for Oswego (5th race of the Summer Series).

Racing Cancelled for Sunday 9/18 [posted 9-16-05]
Due to the Race of Champions raining out today (Friday), and needing Sunday as their rain date, there will be no kart racing on Sunday 9/18.

International Rotax series at Oswego [posted 6-27-05]
Sunday saw over 75 karts at Oswego as the International Rotax series stopped in. A 17-kart 20-lap Rotax feature featured lots of exciting action as these very fast 32-horsepower karts (in comparison a Yamaha Pipe engine produces just 18) took to the track. It was a long day with 11 classes but there was plenty of intense racing to keep everyone occupied. Racing continues every Sunday, with two big events coming up in July in the Challenge Series coming to Oswego on July 24 and the WKA divisional race on July 29-31.

2005 Season Opener Damp and Chilly [posted 4-25-05]
There were 13 official entries for the season opener, although there were many more racers than that hanging around the pits with various excuses for why they weren't quite ready for the season (including yours truly). It didn't help that the temperature was in the 40's and it rained up until 8.30 AM or so. Off and on, it was spitting, but we got all the classes in, using a time-trial plus 15-lap feature format (no heat race).

December indoor kart race at the NYS fairgrounds [posted 12-11-04]
The December Indoor race has been completed with a Friday night practice session and Saturday racing. We had close to 150 entries with lots of racing action, so if you missed it make sure you see the spectacle at the next race in March.

Don't miss our gallery with loads of pictures from the event.

Scoring error for the Oswego Fall Series [posted 11-05-04]
Due to an oversight the fall series points were being calculated incorrectly. Specifically, races were not being dropped, so competitors with 5 races completed had feature points for all 5 added into their total, when they should have only received their best 4 finishes.

The error has been corrected, the Fall Series Points Standings page now has the proper finishing order for the series listed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

3rd Fall Series Runs in the Rain [posted 10-17-04]
The 3rd race of the Fall Series, held at Oswego today, was run in light rain. It was also cold (the temperature never got above 46 degrees). The race was run as a single feature of 20 laps. So, there wasn't a time trial, nor was there a semi. Consequently, the normal scoring doesn't apply. It's being scored as though it were a 3-race format (like Avon does), with only one race being run. The bonus points are awarded accordingly.

3rd Challenge Series race rained out, rescheduled [posted 8-28-04]
The 3rd race of the Challenge Series, held at Avon today, has been rained out. Competitors who were present will receive 25 bonus points towards both the Oswego Summer Series and the Challenge Series overall points. The race has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 2nd, at Avon. Unless the next race in the series at Oswego is rained out, the series will still consist of 4 races, with 3 races needed for awards. Being present at the rainout does not count as one of these three races.

Challenge Series Dates Posted [posted 6-27-04]
The schedule has been updated to include the four Challenge series races with Avon (Genesee Valley Kart Club)

Pictures are up, more improvements to come [posted 6-15-04]
Alright, the first batch of pictures from Oswego are up. You can view them over at the Pictures page.

Construction on a "Drivers" section with bios for drivers is underway. The system will allow drivers to create their own bio pages for the website, possibly with the results pages linking each driver's name to their bio page. It's a fairly large undertaking and there is still a lot of work needed before it's ready to go live, but when completed it should provided a fun way for drivers to increase their exposure and give the website more in-depth coverage of what goes on at the track.

New track layout competed on [posted 5-30-04]
After another rainout last weekend (we will get the list of drivers receiving 25 bonus points for this and the last rainout shortly), we were finally able to make use of the first stage of track improvements at Oswego to run the back straightaway in competition for the first time. This longer configuration has us running both the back straightaway and the infield pits in a combined track that yields times slightly higher than those at Cherry Valley. As track improvements continue, we will have not only a smoother surface but also a little more room on the entrance and exit to the back stretch to work with. This should allow us to lengthen the track an additional few seconds in the future and make the track even more fun than it already is for the drivers!

Upcoming track improvements [posted 5-16-04]
There are some new track improvements in the works for the Oswego track. As part of a broader plan to pave a second shorter oval by paving a new set of turns 3 and 4 through the infield, there will be some new improvements to the karting track. We are planning on beginning to utilize the back stretch in the next few weeks. This will give us an extra straight-away to add length to the track as well as give the drivers a more challenging circuit with more overtaking opportunities. A short test after the conclusion of racing this Sunday conducted by a few drivers showed the viability of this plan, as they reported no significant problems with using the space. Based on lap times in the test we expect lap times for the faster classes on the new version of the track to be somewhere in the 35-40 second range, with maximum speeds still comprable to those that could be achieved at Cherry Valley.

Unrelated to this, we have worked up a brief explanation of the various classes we run over here. The information, especially about a couple of the new classes we are running this year, is not complete, but we will continue to work on getting better descriptions in place.

Karts have hit the track, first race upcoming [posted 4-26-04]
This past Sunday was track set-up and pratice. Cones and tires were set out to mark out the temporary track, and many karts were able to put in some practice laps. Late in the morning, in typical Upstate New York fashion, hail struck. The hail didn't slow most of the karters down, however, and practice continued on for another half an hour before the hail turned to rain, wet the asphalt down, and practice finally had to be stopped. All in all it was a successful day, and the drivers all reported that the track was lots of fun to race on.

We'd like to remind everyone that the first race of the season will be this coming Sunday, provided that the modified cars are not rained out on Saturday night. If they are, and Sunday becomes their rain date, we'll let you know right here and through the mailing list.
